Installation Guide of Cooling Tower Fills

When you received the cooling tower fills, you may doubt how to install them properly. Improper installation may cause fill damage and low efficiency of cooling tower, just install as the following steps and complete the installation fast and effective.

Preparing Working

1. Before installation, you need to turn off the motor power for safe installation.
2. Then take proper protection measure to the other equipment including isolation and lining.
3. Lay the waterproof construction cloth on the ground.
4. Install the cooling tower fills

Installation

There are two types of placement method of cooling tower fills: hanging type and support grid type.

Hanging type

1. Check and ensure the parameter of cooling tower fills, including aperture size, aperture pitch and distance from upper edge to the hole center. Incorrect parameters may cause the false installation.
2. Hang the cooling tower fill packs onto the steel tube in the cooling tower in turn.

Support grid type

1. Bonding the cooling tower sheets into specified sizes of blocks on the construction site. When bonding, you should make sure that the pressure onto the packing sheet is even and leave the full curing time. Make sure the filler contact point are in the same water level and have same adhesive space.
2. Clean cooling tower. Clean up the dust and garbage in the internal of cooling tower.
3. Install the support grid.
4. Install the cooling tower fills. The installation of cooling tower fills should conduct as schedule and adopts partition installation method. Smooth and tidy placement as designed arrangement. For the corner and other irregular area installation, you should cut the blocks according to the actual boundary conditions. All the placement should be tidy, tight and without gaps.
5. Clean the remaining debris between the cooling tower fill blocks and on the layers to ensure all positions are clean and without any debris.
6. Install the rare layers of cooling tower fills. Until all the cooling tower fills are installed. Clean the debris after each layer of fills is installed to guarantee the best efficiency of cooling tower fills.

What need to be attended?

1. All the fill sheet bonding should conduct when the room temperature is higher than 5 °C. And you should change the bonding technology and material according to the local environments for the best bonding performance.
2. The cooling tower blocks should be placed on the flat ground before the bonding achieve the needed strength. Then pile up after all the sheets fully cured. The pile direction and position should be same as position when they are installed into the cooling tower. And the cooling tower blocks height should not exceed 2 m and avoid expose.
3. The bonding process should be basically simultaneous with the assembly working to avoid transformation after long-time stacking.
4. All the sub-quality assembled cooling tower blocks are forbidden to be installed in the towers.
5. When installing, the worker should assure the installation direction. And each layer should be placed tidy and smooth.
6. All the debris between the fill layers should be clean up and ensure the smooth working and high efficiency.
7. The volume of each unit of assembled fills should not exceed 0.5 m³ for the easy repair, maintenance and replacement.
8. All the blocks should be cut into need shapes and sizes according to the designs, and all the gaps should be filled and no exceeding 20 mm, including the gap between fills and tower wall.
9. During assembly, maintenance and installation, all the welding works on the cooling tower fills are forbidden and should adopts necessary fire prevention measures.
10. When works need to be proceeded on the tower fills, the plates should be placed on the cooling tower fills. No stepping on the fills directly.
